The membership of the Association of Secondary Headteachers in Essex (ASHE) is made up of every secondary school in Essex as well as associate members in the Essex Children’s Support Services (CSS), Special Schools and some schools in Southend and Thurrock.

The two Sixth Form colleges in Essex are both full ASHE members and the South Essex College of Further and Higher Education is an affiliated member.

ASHE provides support for Heads and their schools as well as conferences, training and information systems.

ASHE has effective links with Essex Local Authority officers, Regional Schools’ Commissioner, National College, Schools Network, DfE, EFA and other agencies. ASHE has established links with other secondary headteacher organistions in East Anglia.

ASHE works closely with the Primary (EPHA) and Special School  (ESSET) Headteacher organisations under the banner Essex Learning Partnership.
